Course Expectation Survey

What are your expectations for this course? What do you want and/or need to get out of it? What are you anxious about? What are you excited about? Share your thoughts below by adding additional bullet points. Your comments can be anonymous if you would like.

  • This is my first semester of grad school and I cannot think of a better class to have on my schedule.  I will be able to apply skills learned in this class in most, if not all, of my other classes.  In addition I am sure this knowledge will benefit me in the classroom when that day comes.  I am a little concerned with information overload.  The windows exercise last week was quite a bit to take in.  I learned a lot but may have forgotten some already also.  The message is clear, keep trying and exploring, and when you mess up call Dr. Ransom.

  • I expect to learn how to apply technology in interesting and effective ways in my classroom. I am also excited to learn about using a Mac. I am anxious about really being able to be creative enough to utilize what I learn in interesting and engaging ways to my students. I am excited about learning how to use the programs we will be utilizing, also how this class will enhance my experiences for future employers. -Sarah Fargnoli

  • I hope to learn as much as I can in one semester about the newest or best 'left old' technologies available for use in and outside of the classroom setting. I would also hope to increase my ability to use PowerPoint along with other tools that will increase my strength as a new teacher. In regards to what I am anxious to explore, I can say I definitely classify myself as the lowest level "digital immigrant" out there at this time. Therefore, I am anxious to explore methods to increase my 'immigrant status' and graduate at least with an average or above average level of knowledge in this fascinating area of technology. Angela Wedgwood

  • I expect to learn how further intigrate technology in my classroom effectively and efficiently. Being a middle school art teacher, I not only have to focus on our curriculum and keep up with the art world; more importantly I need to keep my students interested and involved. I believe technology will help me achieve those tasks. I have started a few computer based lessons and found my students did more "playing" than working, of course my students who were higher achievers were pretty much on task. I am really excited to learn about wiki's, blogs, etc.. I love technology and look forward to intigrating it more. ~Debbie Rogala

  • I hope to learn what kind of technology will be most realistic to integrate into student learning. There seem to be so many different ideas and areas to explore. I am coming into this class with no technology background at all, so the only direction is up. I hope to have enough information and confidence to be able to continue to explore, practice, and apply some of these themes to my work, on my own. I am anxious about being a step behind my peers and when I go to work on these projects on my own I will have questions/problems that I won't be able to answer. I am most excited about creating a web page. I think/assume, there are so many great things that can be created on one. It is something that can continue to grow as you grow as the creator. ~Greg Kinslow

  • I hope to learn as much as I can about what technologies are available for use in today's classrooms. I also would like to increase my tech capabilities for my own personal growth. I worry that I am very tech challenged and this is causing me great stress, but I think this class will aliviate this stress that is in my head since I know I can learn.

  •  I hope that I learn to master not only many of the basics of technology, such as word, but that I also learn to intigrate and keep up with the changing technologies.  I not only want to learn how to work with these technologies, but I also want to learn how to positivley intigrate them into the learning process, so that I can hopefully inspire and excit6e students to desire and hunger for knowledge.  I want to learn how to utilize technology to help me with my organization, as I am not a very organized person, and from what I can see, good teachers seem to be very organized.  I think that time managment in the classroom has become very important as the size of classes and number of different learning styles has cahnged in the recent past.  ~ Charlie

  • My expectations are to be able to expand my knowledge about how to use technology as a teaching aid and how to incorparate technology for my students.  I'd like to be able to use the technology to it's fullest and always try to learn what's new.  I'd also like to know about how students use technology and how they learn what is new.  I don't want to get comfortable with the knowledge I have, nor let the vast amount of information frighten me.  I think this class will be an adventure. - Nicole Ureles

  • My expectations for this class are to learn as much as possible about using technology in the classroom.  Technology has changed a lot since we were in the classroom, and although I may be knowledgable about technology, it is not the same as knowing how to use that technology in the classroom to benefit students.  I am anxious about the fact that I know how to figure things out on the computer but I usually have no idea how I got there...this makes it difficult when it comes time for tests and I can't remember specific names of things, but I could tell you everything there is to know about that topic.   -christine jackson
  • My class expectations for this class are to learn how to implement different technology into a classroom without losing any of the content being taught in the classroom.  I will enjoy taking what I learn from this class and being able to use it in other grad classes.  At the present time, my technology knowledge is minimal, but growing leaps and bounds every day by just trying applications that I have learned in class, to this point.  I know what many of the terms are, but I am unfamiliar with how they work.  I am assuming that my expectations will grow as my knowledge for technology grows.   And as my knowledge of technology grows,  my understanding will increase and my nervousness will decrease.  ~Steve Pace

  •  My expectations for this course are to learn new ways of teaching that could include technology. For example instead of a plain old book report students can do something fancy with technology that would include the same content. I would like to become more technology savvy and ways to implement techonolgy programs in my classroom. I think I will really learn alot from this class because it is so hands on and I feel like I can grasp the big ideas. If I knew how to use more things in technolgy then I would. I have an ipod and all I know is how to download songs, but I'm sure it can do much more. I think this class will help me grow as a student and future teacher.-- Jennifer Fiordeliso
  • My expectation from this course is to be able to gain new knowledge about technology and learn how to apply that knowledge as an educator. I expect that the skills I learn in this class will also be helpful for me in other classes and my personal life. I expect to leave this class with confidence in my ability to use technology. I am most excited about creating my own web page and I hope that I can retain everything I learn in class. -Lydia
